NYACOL JL Series of antimony and NYACOL SN15 tin containing materials
are all water based passivation additives offered by the
Nyacol Nano Technologies, Inc. Both series of products
are designed to improve the performance of the fluid catalytic
cracker units (FCCU) in oil refineries.
Metal Passivation
Contaminant metals, such as nickel and vanadium, in an oil stream can
deposit themselves on the catalyst in fluid catalytic
cracker units. These contaminants have the detrimental
effects of reducing catalyst activity, decreasing the
yield of gasoline, and promoting catalyst attrition. Passivation
additives such as our JL series of antimony pentoxide
and SN15 (tin oxide) suppress these detrimental effects
and thereby extend the useful life of the catalyst and
improve refinery yields and capacity.
NYACOL metal passivation additives are easily injected
into the FCCU feed stream. Because NYACOL sols are extremely
stable, mixing equipment is not required to keep the passivating
metal oxides in suspension. All that is required to begin
metal passivation is a small metering pump. Also, these
water-based sols are very easy to dilute to the required
concentration.
NYACOL® SN15
Tin suppresses the detrimental effects of vanadium in
the oil stream. NYACOL SN15 is also water based and hence
easy and safe to handle. Again, because of particle size
and advanced colloid chemistry, the efficiency and cost
effectiveness are enhanced.
NYACOL® JL Series Antimony Pentoxide Colloidal
Dispersions
Antimony suppresses the detrimental effects of nickel
in the oil stream. We offer the broadest line of antimony
pentoxide products for passivation in the industry. They
range from a 38 wt% to a 20 wt% antimony metal content
material. We also offer a freeze protected (to -10°F)
grade for cold weather operations.
All of our NYACOL JL products are water based therefore
they are safer and easier to handle than organo-antimony
products. Because of particle size and advanced colloid
chemistry, the surface activity efficiency and cost effectiveness
of our JL product series are enhanced.

NYACOL® Passivation Additive Advantages
NYACOL® passivation additives have a number of important
advantages which should be considered when evaluating your passivation
requirements.
1. NYACOL offers antimony pentoxide passivation additives in high
concentrations. This saves the user freight and storage costs. The small
particle size enhances both surface area efficiency and cost effectiveness.
2.
NYACOL JL539EG antimony pentoxide is also offered as a
39% concentrate in ethylene glycol/water solution. This
product is freeze-protected to -10°F(-24°C), an important
consideration for cold climate refineries.
3.
NYACOL antimony pentoxide and tin oxide products are freeze/thaw
recoverable. This means if either product should freeze,
and upon thawing, simple mixing will redisperse the precipitated
metal oxide back to a stable sol.
4.
Since all NYACOL passivation products are water based,
they are safer and easier to handle than organic based
systems.
5. NYACOL
tin oxide is offered at a particle size of 10 - 15nm,
the smallest tin oxide particle in the industry.
